Effect of Ta 205 , Nb 205 , and Hf 02 Alloying on the Transformability of Y 20 s - Stabilized Tetragonal Z r 0 2 Due - Joon

چکیده

The addition of Ta205, NbzOs, and Hf02 enhanced the transformability of Y203-stabilized tetragonal Zr02 polycrystal (Y-TZP), which was indicated by an increase in phase transformation temperatures and fracture toughness of Y-TZI! Comparison of the alloying effects of these oxides on the transformability and crystal structure of Y-TZP suggested that an alloying oxide which increases the c/u axial ratio (tetragonality) of TZP also increases the transformability. Empirical equations to predict the tetragonality are proposed. Calculated tetragonalities showed good agreement with measured values in the systems Zr02-Y203-Ta205, -Nb205, and -HfOz. [
